Amazing real pub. On our regular trips to London we always seem to stop for a drink or two at The Coal Hole... read more on The Strand. It was only by chance that we noticed a sign for The Nell Gwynne Tavern which Is almost opposite and up a narrow alley. What a surprise it was to find this very small, historic, tavern. Some good real ales added to the pleasure. Take the time to visit. You will not be disappointed. read less

Shhhhhhh I didn't know whether to write a review for this pub or not. The reason being that I want to... read more be selfish and keep it to myself. 

If you want to go to 'tourist's' pub then stay away. If you want a traditional pub with a good choice of beers and friendly staff then this in your place.

I overheard one member of staff explain to an American what a scotch egg was. Fair play, to do that without sounding like you were talking to a child took effort but they managed it. I take my hat off to them.

It is not the biggest of places, as has been mentioned in other reviews but to me it only adds to it's charm. read less
